Travis Scott wasn’t scheduled to perform at Coachella, but the 30-year-old pulled off a surprise set for a few lucky fans! The Houston native appeared at a friend and producer’s house Chase Bfrom the Booty Bellows private party on Saturday April 16 when he took the stage for a five-song set six months after the Astroworld festival tragedy that claimed ten lives.
In videos posted to social media, Travis appeared to perform his Drake collab “Sicko Mode,” “Can’t Say,” and the track “Goosebumps.” He stood behind the DJ booth next to Chase – who produced his 2020 hit “Franchise” – as he held a microphone and rapped, sometimes over his pre-recorded tracks. The performance felt short and sweet, but just enough to have the crowd singing along at the invite-only party!
Travis has kept a low-key performance since the Astroworld tragedy, but made a similar surprise stint over Oscars weekend. The rapper was invited to Richie Akiva and Darren Dzienciol‘s Oscar bash at their private Bel-Air home where the performance was held for high-profile guests like Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Venus and Serena Williams, Tyga, Kaia Gerberand much more.
Like HollywoodLife previously reported Travis did not attend Hulu’s The Kardashians premiere as he felt he “would have taken away from what the night was meant to be”. The source added: “He has a lot to deal with and if he attended a premiere having fun, he knows exactly what it would be like.” Nearly 400 individually filed lawsuits have been combined into one over the Astroworld tragedy, which has yet to go to court.
“I am absolutely devastated by what happened last night. My prayers go out to the families of everyone affected by what happened at the Astroworld Festival,” Travis said last year after the tragic event. “We are currently working to identify families so that we can help them through this difficult time,” he also said at the time.
