“The White Pearl” by Tania L. Giguere will be presented at the LA Times Festival of Books on April 23-24, 2022, on the campus of the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA.
The story begins with the introduction to the life of Detective John. He gets up early and talks to his cup of coffee to reflect and analyze things before starting the day. Detective John was inspired to do well in his career thanks to his lover; as she handed her badge to John, she explained how proud she was. After getting ready, the detective heads to work, and as he walks around the neighborhood, he sees bums lying around the dealers and those making a deal.
Looking at it, John remembers when the neighborhood was much better for families where kids were free to play on their bikes talking to shop owners, and parents didn’t have to worry about a thing.
This book conveys a message of why there is a law and why people need it. The Tale Of John Parker reveals the regular life of the police and the dangers of the streets being overrun with drugs and murder. Plus, it’s a compelling story of one man’s battle against Chicago’s dark underbelly. John infiltrates and becomes what the town needs: a detective who doesn’t stop because he looked the devil in the eye.
