We are The Good Society, the 2020 GABF Small Brewpub of the Year, located in West Seattle’s North Admiral District, and are looking for an experienced full-time Head Brewer with a passion for producing a wide variety of styles.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Wort production on a 2-vessel, 7-barrel, indirect-fired brewhouse
  • Cellar management
  • Filling the finished product in kegs, cans via a Wild Goose Gosling and occasionally bottles via a manual 4 head back pressure filler.
  • Plan and coordinate with the property the ordering of raw materials, chemicals and other consumables needed
  • Execute existing recipes, thoughtfully and creatively create new recipes and manage the production schedule with owner input
  • QA/QC from grain to glass
  • Maintain accurate and detailed production records in all relevant tools including Beer30 and Beersmith (or preferred recipe development software)
  • Work safely and follow, develop or improve operating procedures
  • Participation in professional organizations, conferences and training opportunities
  • Occasional travel for collaborations and events

Working conditions require:

  • Ability to work effectively in a variety of conditions and with continuous and moderate noise levels
  • Pushing, pulling, climbing, stooping, reaching, bending, etc.
  • Work more than 8 hours a day on brewing days
  • Ability to lift 55lb bags and move 165lb half drums
  • Able to safely handle potentially hazardous chemicals
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Ability to operate forklift, hand truck, pallet truck and other warehouse equipment
  • Proof of full vaccination against COVD-19


  • 3 to 5 years of professional experience in brewing
  • Highly skilled communicator and ability to interact positively with others
  • A desire to learn and grow as a professional in our industry
  • Possess a thorough understanding of beer production in a professional brewing environment, including proper materials handling, yeast management, and knowledge of fermentation
  • Laboratory experience a plus
  • Mechanical tilt a plus
  • Possess the ability to quickly assess situations and resolve issues quickly and efficiently
  • Highly organized with attention to detail and respect for process
