Muncy Library Receives Charitable Donations | News, Sports, Jobs

Since the start of the pandemic, the Muncy Library has been creating activity bags for residents of the Muncy Place Skilled Nursing facility at UPMC. The bags are delivered monthly and include crossword puzzles, coloring pages, quizzes, Sudoku puzzles and craft projects. For this program, the library received a donation from PA Skills Charitable Giving Miele Corporation in a recent ceremony. Cassandra Neidig, UPMC’s Director of Activities, expressed her gratitude to the library for the commitment of its residents each month. She shared that the library has also donated audiobooks and large-print books to the center. Patricia Dershem, library assistant at Muncy Library, kicked off the outreach to ensure residents had intellectual stimulation as well as something colorful and inviting to engage with while pandemic restrictions were in place. “It has become such a wonderful way for our library to extend its services to our community, that we have no plans to stop anytime soon,” said Corey Breneisen, director of the Muncy Library. “We are grateful for the donation that will allow this program to continue,” concludes Breneisen.

Among other highlights of the library, it recently installed an elevator that allows patrons with disabilities to access all levels of the library.
