The 20th Annual Family Day and Children’s Health Fair, with entertainment and information for all ages, will be held Saturday, June 11 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on The Green in downtown Wellsboro.

The Wellsboro Area Chamber of Commerce, Wellsboro Foundation, Inc., UPMC, Laurel Pediatrics of Wellsboro, Tioga County Partnership for Community Health, and AmeriHealth Caritas Pennsylvania are teaming up to host this special event to kick off the 80th festival annual Pennsylvania State Laurel. .

Each young person participating in Family Day will receive a free game ball. There will be a Smokey Bear tour and an hour-long dance party for children ages preschool to 12 and anyone else who wishes to participate, led by members of Girl Scout Troop Mansfield #41408.

Laurel Pediatrics of Wellsboro is offering free bicycle helmets in sizes toddler through large while supplies last. A youth must be equipped with a helmet to obtain one.

Families and individuals can visit 39 activity and information booths where there will be a slackline, games to be won and creative projects to do on site to take home, such as planting seeds, making instruments for music, bracelets, sun visors and anti-stress. .

At the Tioga County Relay for Life “Cut for a Cure” booth, Jenn Sporer will cut hair to donate to children’s wigs. At Goodies For Our Troops, parents and children can create and write cards to include in care packages to be sent out this summer.

Other booths will provide information on children’s health, safety and well-being, nutrition, mentoring, children’s health insurance, music programs and lessons, forest fire prevention, water safety, youth and adult summer programs, positive mental health, addictions and crime. prevention, outdoor recreation opportunities, foster parents and adoption, pets and much more.
