City of Albuquerque Seeking Artists for Next Activity Book

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (KRQE) — If any artists in Albuquerque are ready to step out of the carpentry, now may be the time to shine. The The city of Albuquerque is looking for people to submit ideas for an upcoming coloring and activity book.

In a statement, the city said it seeks to tell untold Albuquerque stories about places, people and events from all angles. To do this, the city’s Department of Arts and Culture asks creatives to submit line drawings, artwork, educational activities, graphic stories or short written works for a book.

The city explained that the audience for the book would be children aged four and over. The objective of the approved submissions will be to display the diversities spread across the city. Since children are the primary audience, officials are asking that the content remain suitable for younger minds.

If someone wants to submit a written piece, city officials ask that it be less than 500 words. Fiction, poetry, memoirs, graphic stories or non-fiction stories will be accepted in this category. Black and white line drawings for coloring pages are also acceptable. Activity suggestions are also eligible for the book. This can include things like riddles, games, puzzles, drawing activities, or other instruction-based games.

Topics for games, scripts, and drawings can be inspired by historical events, people, cultural traditions, arts, food, weather, or government.

The deadline for submitting books is October 14. Questions can be directed to [email protected], and a submission link is available on the city website.
