Bitterroot Audubon’s The March Zoom meeting will include a presentation on common loons in Montana by Donna Love, secretary of the Montana Loon Society and award-winning author of numerous children’s nature books. Donna was first captivated by loons on Lake Seeley in 1997 and has been active with the Montana Loon Society ever since. Her first book was Loons, Diving Birds of the North, in 2003, and she has since published books on topics ranging from ospreys to herons to glaciers. Bitterroot Public Library, Afternoon family board games, 1 to 3 p.m., meeting room. Join us for some gaming fun. We’ll be providing a host of board games and card games, and we encourage you to bring your personal favorites that you’d like to share. This event is open to all ages.

Free family activity: Chromatography, 10:00 a.m., Ravalli County Museum. Gaze in wonder at the colors of washable markers spread across a paper coffee filter. This simple process demonstrates the process of color diffusion when water runs over porous paper. Watch all the colors of the rainbow appear as the water spreads the colors from the marker. Backcountry Riders introduces the Defensive Horsemanship Safety (DHS) program. It was designed in conjunction with the Forest Service, Smoke Elser, and BCH of MT to introduce Forest Service project volunteers to the safety aspects of working around stock on trail projects. The Part 1 Demo Class is at C-Max Stables 9am-2pm, 657 Bass Lane in Corvallis. The class covers trail safety, equine first aid, packing and pony skills. The public is invited to attend. A chili lunch and dessert will be provided. Dress warmly and bring your own chair.

Ravalli County Fish and Wildlife Association the general meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Daly Leach Community Hall, 1010 W. Main St., Hamilton. Guest speakers will be Abbie Jossie, Darby and Sula Ranger and Dan Pliley, West Fork Ranger speaking from Mud Cr. Fuel reduction project. Bitterrootdalen Lodge, Sons of Norway, will feature Hamilton High School senior Emma Mitchell as a guest speaker for the April 5 social gathering. She will talk about the school’s foreign exchange program, including feedback from current students. Dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall and will be a salad bar.
